Purpose of the role
Supervise, coordinate and monitor all accountabilities of statutory compliance, ensuring full site compliance is maintained, with robust management systems in place.
Ensure site facilities/site services are satisfactorily inspected and maintained
Supervise contractors, ensuring they are properly managed and conform to all quality, HR, SHE and Security standards and policies
Avoid hazardous situations through PTW, risk assessment and method statements as appropriate.
Key Accountabilities
Supervise and co-ordinate statutory inspections and demonstrate management systems to show continued compliance, transparency and auditable trail.
The role holder is accountable to take all necessary actions to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, legislated regulations, policies, work standards, and governance requirements.
Responsible for the supervision and organisation of actions rising from stautory inspections and ensuring these actions are completed in an agreed time frame
Maintain key performance indicators to evaluate stautory performance.
Ensure personel knowledge is kept up to date with any movements or changes in legistation
Liase with external bodies (e.g HSE/ institutions) as required
Identify improvement opportunities and offer advice, guidance, engineering knowledge and experience to the Vale business.
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities within engineering and other departments/areas as required.
Attend and contribute to all Engineering/ communication meetings as required
Manage and supervise minor civil works
Manage and supervise projects as identified and prioritized by the Engineering Manager.
Contribute to the engineering departments performance to ensure production targets are achieved
Deputise as reponsible engineering site contact as required
Perform Duty Manager role to cover the late working shift on a rota basis
Perform Call-out Manager role for out of hours site emergencies on a rota basis
Compliance accountabilities to include:
Legionella, Asbestos,Electrical fixed wiring test & Inspect,Fixed and portable gas lines and equipment, Pressure systems (Including Chlorine), Lifting equipment and lifts Local Exhaust Ventilation, Ladders, scaffolding and racking,Stacks (emission) Inspections, Platforms, railings and fixed structures,Glass reinforced plastic (GRP tanks/vessels) Roller shutter doors
Site services accountabilities to include:
Buildings infrastructure inspections and maintenance (internal/external), Facilities, pipe bridges, columns, roadways and drainage,services/service contracts e.g. Cl2, HCL, caustic, nitrogen, gas, steam, air, water (cooling/process, demin, potable), heat & ventilation, Minor building / remedial /refurbishment works

Security, etc.
Actively involve and communicate with personnel on relevant matters.
Ensure personal understanding of and compliance with Company / legal standards and Refinery quality systems.

Actively seek the elimination of all accidents and incidents in the workplace
Ensure all incidents are reported using the Incident Report Procedure and any Incidents which may be reportable under RIDDOR are brought to the attention of the Engineering Services Manager.
Ensure all work is carried out safely using approved working practices and procedures and using high standards of operational cleanliness and environmental control. Investigate incidents as required, and agree improvement action plans with Engineering Services Manager.
Ensure that equipment and facilities used are in a safe condition.

Relevant Qualifications/Experience
Conversant with all aspects of compliance
Minimum HNC engineering qualification or relevant experience essential
Typically 5-7+ years of related industry experience of working with and managing 3rd party contractors.
Engineering sector experience preferably manufacturing/maintenance
Computer literate - Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point, Office
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Awareness or knowledge of "Lean" manufacturing methodologies


Salary - £36,200 - £40,000 Basic + Bonus (approx. 15-18% Capped at 36%)
