Finance Assistant

Aims and Objectives of the Post

Working with the Finance tean in support of the Operations and Finance Manager, the role will include the raising of orders and departmenal transfers, processsing of all payments and expenses in line with financial regulation . In addition, the postholder will assist in budget reconciliations, maintenance of email , speadsheet and paper record keepng as appropriate and ensure accurate record keeping of budget activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Principal Responsibilities include

Finance Administration:

Ensuring adherance to Finance and Procurement regulations to ensure that the financial resources are committed with due regard to value for money and purchasing guidelines

Ensuring that all purchase orders, invoices, staff payments, cash handling and travel arrangements are processed according to the financial regulations and in a timely and efficient manner

Processing and reporting on all staff and non-staff claims and re-imbursements
working with the finance team , the post holder will assist in the maintainence & monitoring of fee commitments, ensuring that finance forms are raised to avoid gaps in payment
maintenance of devolved college budgets, ensuring accurate record keeping and that computer and paper filing systems are up to date

Support academic and administrative colleagues in relation to compliance with the financial regulations
Working with the Finance team in developing systems and processes to manage and administer the varied financial activities
Liaison with colleagues and services in finance, payroll, HR
To carry out other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the post and as directed by the Operations & Finance Manager

Education: Qualifications & Training University Undergraduate Degree

Candidates should be able to demonstrate transferable skills - such as analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving and self-management skills - at an appropriately high level

Knowledge Experience and proficient in utilisation of MS Office applications

Experience Experience of working in a Finance position

Recent relevant experience of handling financial transactions, and monitoring expenditure against budget

Experience of general office administration

Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate with clarity, both orally and in writing, and through presentation

High level of IT literacy, numerate and literate

Time management and ability to multi-task

Tact and diplomacy

Customer focused

Ability to work to tight deadlines
