Job Title: Caretaker / Maintenance Person

Responsible to the Facilities Manager.

Remit: To ensure that the school and grounds are safe, secure and clean for the pupils, staff and parents who use the building. To take a pride in ensuring that the duties are carried out to a high standard.

Hours negotiable as duties demand but are expected to be 7am - 12 noon and 3pm - 8pm
Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend work & Open Day.(Hours will on occasion may need to be varied)



Roles and Responsibilities
To unlock the Upper school at 7am, checking all areas including playgrounds for health and safety issues.
To report to the Facilities Manager all Health and Safety issues and action according to the level of risk of harm i.e. A = high risk, cordon off area and seek remedial action immediately. B = high risk, warn all relevant personnel and seek remedial action immediately. C = Place on list of tasks to be remedied within the next week. D = Place on list of tasks to be remedied during school holidays.
To oversee and line manage the work of the cleaners, bringing to their attention areas that need to be cleaned more thoroughly.
To carry out repairs around the school and grounds as required and as they are reported.
To attend Health & Safety training, a Safeguarding course, Special Needs training and update skills and knowledge regularly.
To order supplies required for cleaning and repairs, ensuring that an official order form is completed first and signed off by the Executive Head.
To lock the school each day or, in the case of late bookings, ensure that the person locking up is identified and knows the procedure and code.
To access the school intranet on a daily basis, keeping up to date with policy and procedure changes and reading school news.
Driving duties, driving mini bus for transportation of children to and from school, and assisting with driving for swimming lessons when required.
Whilst main duties are focussed on the Upper school site and Hall, there will be occasions when it is necessary to work at the Lower school site with the second caretaker or in his absence.
To be a key holder for all sites for alarms
Any other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager
